Six million spectators now watched this tournament on Swiss TV. 816,000 more than the previous year. 32,900 spectators were recorded during the event at Hallenstadion.

New record in prize money, as the organizers increased the amount to 600,000 Sfr. CSI now ranked 3rd in the world, with Aachen 2nd (700,000) and Calgary, still number one with 1.5 million. In addition to the sport, Rolf & Urs Theiler reminded themselves of an extremely important aspect of their show, the horse. During the one hour show they successfully showcased this by advertising the relationship between horse & man with moving images. Urs explains: In this show, with an investment value of 350,000Sfr , our intention is not only to provide entertainment but also to advertise the animal called "horse".

The European Classic with 250,000 Sfr prize money ended unexpectedly. German rider, Hauke Luther (27) won with his Hanoverian gelding, Gaylord. Austrian Hugo Simon was 2nd with Apricot and Geoff Billington from the UK with Rhapsody was 3rd. No Swiss Equestrians participated in the jumpoff. Willi Melliger was 6th with French mare Quinta & Thomas Fuchs 7th with Dylano. The public favourites John Whitaker & Milton won the Grand Prix for the first time with a prize payout of 100,000 Sfr. Second as in the previous year was Willi Melliger with Quinta.
